5 Essential Apps You Can Use While Working & Running Your Business Remotely
There are mixed opinions about working remotely, but sometimes we are left with no other choice. Having efficient communication with your team and staying organized is essential to getting anything done. Here are the apps I use everyday while working remotely with my team.
1. Slack
If you haven’t been living underneath a rock, then you’ve probably heard of Slack. When you are managing your teams remotely, you need to have proper communication. Slack is an online-based chat room that you can make accessible to all your team members. You can share files in your direct messages or channels, and it eliminates a lot of back, and forth you would commonly experience with email. It also has a whole ecosystem of apps you can easily integrate with.
2. Trello
Managing your daily tasks while keeping track of bigger projects in one place is mandatory, not to let things fall through the cracks. I use to use Asana but switched over to Trello because of how simple it is. The key is not making your project management a lot more work and keeping the workflow intuitive. You don’t want it to suck up your time using it. However, you need something that keeps track of everything happening with you and your team. I also like Trello for delegating tasks that need to be done and easily tracking the status of them.
3. Zoom
Having one in-person meeting can take up half your day: going there, sitting down to have the meeting, and then driving back (should I go on). Furthermore, the chances are most people you need to meet with don’t live down the street and if you have employees in other parts of the country or world flying to meet with them isn’t always realistic. Zoom makes scheduling meetings with your team, vendors, or whoever a breeze. I’ve tried many other apps out there, and Zoom is by far the best. And let’s not forget sometimes its best to keep social distance in place even when you are not dealing with a pandemic.
4. Lastpass
This allows you to store and share your passwords with your team securely. I have way too many passwords to keep track of, and putting them on a spreadsheet is no longer a secure option. Lastpass is an easy solution to password security and accessibility.
5. Google Apps
In my opinion, the best all-around document management solution is Google Apps. You can share and edit documents, uploaded files to shared drives, and so much more. You might already be using this to create business email addresses and organizing your calendar, so dig a little deeper and see what it has to offer.
Conclusion
These are the top 5 apps that I use with my remote team. If you integrate each of these with your daily workflow, you can surely lead a productive virtual team effectively.
